In this decade, America comes out of a time of political unrest, decline and failure. A government under siege by its people at home and cornered by political rivals abroad, it seems that the government fails at every turn. It must shuffle from dealing with foreign affairs and keeping the Cold War stagnant while keeping the public’s support which continued to deteriorate throughout the 70’s.

            The public’s loss of faith in their government was a key theme for this decade. The government suffers as it finds it harder and harder to keep hold of their supports. At the same time leaders and parties experiment with their positions, their image and their strategies as they attempt to win back the public.
